Jan. 6th, 2019 09:08 pm“Hey Watershadow!!” Ivystar came bounding out of her den. Watershadow dipped her head to the leader.
“Could you lead a patrol on the DarkClan border?” Ivystar asked her, and Watershadow nodded. “Who do you want me to take?” she asked. Ivystar shrugged. “Your sisters, and Silverfox maybe. And, hmm, take Laurelpaw and Briarpaw.” Watershadow nodded, and bounded off to the warriors den, where she was sure Silverfox and her sisters slept in the warm afternoon.
“Wake up!!” Watershadow prodded Flamingstride, and Flamingstride stretched out, and accidentally kicked Sprintchaser. The silver cat glared at her sisters. “Border patrol!” called Watershadow cheerfully, and Silverfox jumped up. The silver warrior went to wake the apprentices.
The cats pushed out of the den, and the camp, and ran the distance to the border. The DarkClan border was a thin line between the few trees and sand-dunes of OceanClan and the dark bushes of DarkClan.
“Ughhh!” Flamingstride groaned. “You may as well have whacked me with a stiff fish!” She stretched out her legs, and the patrol began marking the border. “What good will this do?” asked Briarpaw. “Every cat knows that DarkClan travels by tunnel. Why do we spend all this time, when we could be making sure IceClan keeps to their border?”
Sprintchaser shook her head, hissing.. “The warrior code tells us to, that’s why.” Briarpaw gave a huff, and a loud call came from the other side of the border.
“How are you doing?” Bloomflight, Brindlemist, and Jaggedcloud raced toward them. “Well.” Watershadow mewed back politely, “We are fine, thank you. How is DarkClan?”
“Not very well.” Bloomflight dropped her head. “Smokeflight went to hunt with the stars.” Watershadow remembered Smokeflight was the oldest elder of DarkClan. “We will mourn for very long.” Jaggedcloud said quietly, “Even over the long distance from the stars to our territory.”
Watershadow dipped her head. “We must return to camp.” she meowed, tasting the rain on the air. “May StarClan light your path!” Yowled Brindlemist, as the DarkClan patrol trotted away.
“May you have good hunting till next time!” Yowled Laurelpaw, and the two patrols split ways.
